Frequently Asked Questions
How Does the Z-Generation Ministry Work?
The Z-Generation Ministry is a year round youth ministry. It coordinates the activities of youth departments of participating churches in much the same way as the lessons of the Sunday School are coordinated through the International Council of Churches. Basically, all participating churches are following the same schedule of activity, theme and study.
The primary objective of the ministry is to assist participating churches in their efforts to develop a well organized and effective youth ministry in cooperation with other participating churches.
The ministry seeks to encourage the study and memorization of key scriptures by youth at an early age. The memorization is encouraged through a series of tournaments in which youth demonstrate bible knowledge as they have fun performing in skits, liturgical dances, talent, and many other activities. The purpose of the Z-ministry is to promote discipleship among today's youth. Accepting Jesus Christ and learning his word are the first steps to learning to better live the Christian life, the Z-Generation program will help youth of the digital age as the move in this direction.
In a typical year youth will participate in a year-round ministry in their local congregation and enjoy fellowships with other churches as they participate in civic projects, Heritage Programs, Tournaments, Vacation Bible Schools, Fall Festivals and a variety of other programs designed to minister to the Z-Generation.
What are the age limitations?
The Z-Generation Ministry is for youth who are between the ages of 6 and 21. At 22, a youth is eligible to become an adult sponsor
Is this same program as the one sponsored by the Louisiana Baptist Convention?
No. Z-Generation Ministry is the official ministry of the churches in the North Louisiana Old Line Association and others who choose to participate. The State Youth Encampment Ministry hosts an encampment and tournaments. The Z-Generation program differs in that participating churches actually share the SAME annual youth calendar and share major youth ministry activities such as VBS, Easter Egg Hunts and other large events together.
