The Company We Keep

Youth of the Z-Generation often meet many friends on MySpace, Facebook, Tagged, chatrooms and other places where Z-Gen's meet. The word of God reminds us to be careful about those with whom we associate or those we identify as cyber "friends."

 
Question: When Z-Gens choose friends in life or on the web, what should they remember from God's word?
Answer: Psalm 1:1-2 "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night."

Question: Anytime a young believer gets a chance he should try to reach someone for Christ, whether in person or on the internet. Is this biblical?
Answer: Mat 28:19-20 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

Question: How can believers of the Z-Generation protect themselves from the tricks the devil will use to get them to join bad company and do wrong things?
Answer: Ephesians 6:11 " Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."

Question: Often Z-Gen school mates want them to follow the crowd. When pressed to choose between our friends or God what should Z-Gens do?
Answer: Acts 5:29 "Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than man.

Question: Many non-believers in the Z-Generation try to diss Christian Z-Gens because of they live a bible based life. Should Christian Z-Gens allow their friends to seperate them from Christ?
Answer: Romans 8:38 "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Seeking Material Things
 
Z-Gen's are encouraged by music and videos to get riches quickly. Some even suggest that youth should "Get rich or die trying." What does the word of God say about this subject?
 
Question: When Z-Gens see their friends putting worldy things before Christ what should they remember from God's word?
Answer: Matthew 6:33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
 
Question: Sometimes Z-Gens are frustrated when we see those who do not know God having such a great time. It appears that they wear the best clothes, have plenty of money and the most fund. What does the bible say about this?
Answer: Psalm 37:1-3 " Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed."
 
Accepting Christ As Savior
 
Youth of Z-Generation often put off accepting Christ, choosing to enjoy their youth doing what pleases them now. When Z-Gens accept Christ his blood forgives their sins after they repent. When that happens, even in their youth, they become brand new people in Christ.

Question: Some Z-Gens think they have plenty of time to come to Christ later. What does the word of God say about this?
Answer: Ecclesiastes 12:1 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;
 
Question: When youth of the Z-Generation stop their sinful ways and become Christians, what hapens to their sins?
Answer: 2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
 
Question: Z-Gens can be saved from our sins because God loved us enough to send his Son to take our punishment. Where is this in the bible?
Answer: John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
 
Question: When z-Gens have sinned and want to begin we can ask God to forgive us and give us his spirit again. Where is this truth in the bible?
Answer: Psalm 51:10 "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me."
 
Question: Many in the Z-Generation go to church but they have no been born again. Is it necessary for a person to be born again to be saved?
Answer: John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
 
Question: When Z-Gens turn from their sins and follow Christ, will the wrongs we did in the past be held against us?
Answer: Romans 8:1 "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."
 
Question: When Z-Gens stop sinning and turn back to God what can they expect?
Answer: 2 Chronicles 7:14 "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
 
Question: Some in the Z-Generation feel they have not done enough good works to be saved. How is a person saved?
Answer: Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.
 
Question: Z-Gens must not be ashamed to let others in the Z-Genration know that they follow Christ. They must be willing to tell others they believe in him and proudly live the Christian life. Will repentance and confessing Christ save them?
Answer: Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
 
Living A Clean Spirit Filled Life
 
Z-Generation Christians are challenged to live Christlike everyday. That life includes prayer, worship and involvement in activities that help them grow as Christians.
 
Question: When Z-Gens pray, they often pray Jesus' model prayer. What is that prayer?
Answer: Matthew 6:9-13 "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen."
 
Many Z-Gens think it is cool to cheat, steal, disrespect elders, use foul language or lead immoral lives. If we sin, what is our payment?
Answer: Romans 6:23 " For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
 
Question: Many Z-Generation youth wear tatoos, piercings and some males even wear earrings. However, Christian Z-Gens know that many people view these as sinful so they avoid them. What does the bible say about doing things that might be interpreted as evil?
Answer: 1 Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
 
Question: It's hard to keep you peace, especially when you have been dissed. What does the bible say to Christian Z-Gens about this subject?
Answer: Colossians 4:6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
 
Question: Z-Generation Christians demonstrate their character by always telling the truth. What does the bible teach about lying?
Answer: Exodus 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
 
Question: When believers in the Z-Generation follow God's will they abide in him. What happens to those who "abide" in him?
Answer: John 15:7 " If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."
 
Question: The Z-Generation often uses curse words, dirty jokes and the N word and other forms of dirty talk. What does the bible say?
Answer: Colossians 3:8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth
 
Z-Generation youth who believe in Christ do so with a pure heart. What will be their reward?
Answer: Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
 
Question: Christian Z-Gens are different because they have a different spirit at home, school and in the community. What is the fruit of the spirit?
Answer: Gal 5:22-23 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."
 
Question: Many Z-Gens go to church but don't appear to be real Christians. How can you tell a real Christian?
Answer: Matthew 7:20 "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them."
 
Question: A part of living the Christian Z-Gen life is giving back to God from our finances. What is the blessing is promised if we pay our tithes and cheerfully give offerings?
Answer: Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
 
Question: Christian Z-Gens are different because they are special to God. The Christians of the Z-Generation are unique. How do we know this?
Answer: 1 Peter 2:9 "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:"
 
Dealing With Adults
 
The Z-Generation often feels bossed around by adults, including their parents. The word of God gives instruction to Z-Gens about responding to adults.
 
Question: Some Z-Gens talk back to their parents and even curse them. How should we respond to our parents, even when we disagree with them?
Answer: Exodus 20:12 "Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee."
 
Question: The bible Z-Gens to obey their parents. What exactly does the word say?
Answer: Ephesians 6:1 "Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right."
 
About Worship and Bible Study
 
Question: When Z-Gens prepare to take the Lord's Supper, each one should review whether they are really in step with the Christian life before participating. What does the bible say about this?
Answer: 1 Cor 11:28-30 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
 
Question: Some doubters in the Z-Generation think the bible is not God's word but was written by men. What does God's word say?
Answer: 2 Peter 1:21 "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."
 
Question: What does the Word of God say to Z-Gens about the importance of studying the bible?
Answer: 2 Timothy 2:15 "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
 
Question: Z-Gens read the bible but How do we know that all parts of the bible are true?
Answer: 2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:"
 
Question: Z-Generation youth who believe in Christ meet regularly with other believers to encourage each other before difficult times approach. Where is this in the bible?
Answer: Hebrews:10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
 
Question: Some Z-Gens argue and dispute with their pastors, seniors and other adults. What does the Word of God say about this?
Answer: 1 Timothy 5:1-2 Rebuke not an elder, but entreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren; The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.
 
Question: Z-Gens want to hear the word of God preached to build their faith. What does the bible say about listening to the preached word?
Answer: Romans 10:17 "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
 
Faith in God in the face of difficulties
 
Z-Generation youth face troubles. Sometimes they are misunderstood, unfairly criticized, or put down by others. When this happens Z-Gens feel very low, however they are sustained when they remember the word of God. 
 
Question: Z-Generation youth should always remember that God has their back. What passage of bible scripture reminds Z-Gens that God is always with them?
Answer: Psalm 23:1-6 "The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever."
 
Question: Z-Gens are tempted to trust their gut feelings and live by their street sense, but what does God's word teach?
Answer: Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
 
Question: There will be days when Z-Gens will feel great because of the great blessings received. There will also be days when things do not go so well. What is the Christian Z-Gen response?
Answer: 1 Thessalonians 5:18 "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
 
Question: What about Z-Gens who all always mumble and complain when things don't go their way?
Answer:Philippians 2:14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings
 
Question: When a Christian Z-Gen talks about faith, what is meant? What is faith?
Answer: Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
 
Question: Sometimes we feel that God has abandoned us, but Z-Gen belivers know God will never leave us alone. Where is this in the bible?
Answer: Psalm 37:25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
 
Question: When bad things happen to Christian Z-Gens they are never discouraged but they always rebound and come back. Why?
Answer: Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."
 
Question: If Christian Z-Gens have faith, should that have some works that show their faith?
Answer: James 2:20 "But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?"
 
Question: Z-Gens hear the news about Global warming, wars and weird weather and become concerned. What does the bible say about this?
Answer: Mat 24:6-8 "And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows."
 
Question: If Z-Gens live according to God's will and purpose, no matter how bad it looks, God will make a way. Is this promise in the bible?
Answer: Philippians 4:19 "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
 
Sex, Homosexuality and Morality Issues
 
Z-Generation youth are exposed to sexual issues on broadcast television, MTV, VH1, BET, videos and in music. Often the messages Z-Gens receive is different from what God teaches. However, Z-Gens are challenged to remain faithful to God's moral standards.
 
Question: Z-Gens who regularly practice sin by drinking, having sex without marriage, drinking using drugs other immoral acts risk losing heaven if they do not repent. What does God's word say about this sujbect?
Answer: 1 Cor 6:9-10 " Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God."
 
Question: There are some Z-Gens who regularly cheat on tests, shoplift from stores, download music without paying for it or other forms of stealing. What does God's word say about stealing in any form?
Answer: Exodus 20:15 "Thou shalt not steal."
 
Question: Many Z-Gens see their friends having sex. Many say it's O.K. as long protection is used. What does the bible say?
Answer: 1 Corinthians 6:18-19 "Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?"
